Your site looks like
a thousand others.

Same gradient. Same headline shape. Same icon grid saying nothing. Visitors can tell your site was generated, not built, and they decide what that means about your business before they’ve read a single word.

Not a real site. It doesn’t need to be, you’ve already seen the real ones.

“Oh. Another one of these.”

That’s the whole thought. It takes about a second and a half, and then they’re gone, back to the search results, already forgetting your name.

The tells

None of these are subtle once you know what you’re looking at. Most visitors know it too, even if they couldn’t name a single one.

01

The gradient blob hero

Purple-to-blue mesh gradient behind a headline that could belong to any business on earth. You’ve scrolled past this exact hero a hundred times this month and forgotten every one.

02

The "Welcome to" copy

Enthusiastic, confident, and about nothing. Sentences that could be reused on a plumber’s site or a SaaS startup’s without changing a word.

03

The icon-and-three-words grid

Six identical cards, a lightning bolt, a bold phrase, a sentence that trails off into nothing. Nobody has ever read one of these out loud and meant it.

04

Leftover placeholder text

"Lorem ipsum," "[Insert testimonial here]," a phone number that’s still 555-0123. Proof nobody looked at it after it was generated.

05

Buttons that go nowhere

A "Get Started" that links to itself. A contact form with no email behind it. A nav item for a page that was never actually built.

06

It just feels hollow

Nothing a visitor could point to exactly, but they know within two seconds that nobody built this on purpose. They just don’t know why they know.

You get about two seconds.

That’s roughly how long it takes someone to decide whether your business looks legitimate. A site that reads as mass-produced doesn’t say “we cut corners on our website,” it says “we might cut corners on everything else too.” Nobody emails you to explain that. They just close the tab and forget you existed.

Every visitor who bounces off a generic site was a real person who needed exactly what you offer, right up until the page told them not to trust you.

Good fit, or not quite

This covers it if

  • Your site was generated by an AI website builder and it shows
  • Visitors bounce fast, or tell you it "feels a bit off"
  • The copy sounds like it was written about your business, not by someone who understands it
  • You want it to actually sound like you, not like every other AI site out there

Look elsewhere if

  • The site is well-built but just needs a single fix, not a rebuild
  • You want an entirely new site from scratch with new branding
  • The issue is technical (broken/erroring), not how it looks or reads

Something’s technically broken, not just generic? See fix a broken website. Want a full new build from scratch? See websites & landing pages.

Process

An honest audit first, then only the parts that actually need rebuilding.

01

Send the link

A link to the site and what feels wrong about it, even if you can’t put your finger on exactly what.

02

Audit

A blunt, honest look at what’s actually giving it away, from the copy to the layout to the generic template underneath.

03

Rebuild the parts that matter

Reworked to sound like an actual business run by an actual person, with a fixed price agreed before anything starts.

Questions, answered.

Not sure if that’s what’s going on with yours? Get in touch and I’ll take a look.

There are specific, recognisable tells: the same handful of hero layouts, the same generic copy patterns, the same icon grids. Once you’ve seen a hundred of them, they’re easy to spot, to visitors too, whether they could name it or not.

Depends what’s actually broken. Sometimes it’s the copy, sometimes the structure, sometimes both. I’ll tell you honestly what needs work rather than rebuilding things that are already fine.

No judgement, it’s a fast way to get something live. This is for when "something live" needs to become "something that actually represents the business."

Most single-site rescues are delivered within a week of the price being confirmed, depending on how much needs reworking.
